Serving Our Community

We believe that promoting strong, healthy relationships with community partners is an essential way that we can give back. We have a number of annual events that are designed to serve different stakeholders, including children, LGBTQ student athletes, and the broader Phoenix community. We are always seeking out new opportunities to do more for city we call home.

Youth Flag Football Clinic

An essential component of our mission is to promote the sport of flag football. One of the ways we do this is through our youth clinics, put on in partnership with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department and the Arizona Cardinals. Kids from across the Phoenix metro area attend this annual event that has brought former NFL players, PGFFL members, and Big Red (the Cardinals' mascot) to teach the fundamentals of the game.

Partnerships

We seek out mutually beneficial partnerships with community organizations to support and promote each other's mission and goals. We are proud of these partnerships, which have included Aunt Rita's Foundation, Phoenix Pride, and the Arizona Gay Rodeo Association.

Volunteering

One of our league's greatest assets is our members, who freely give their time and skills to benefit our community. These opportunities have included water drives for people experiencing homelessness, boxing and serving food at St. Mary's food bank, and collecting and delivering school supplies to children in need.

We believe so strongly in this part of our mission that PGFFL athletes who participate on our travel teams are required to volunteer 10 hours of their time to remain eligible, however most members exceed this requirement.

Scholarship

We seek to encourage more LGBTQ+ students to participate in athletics. One of the ways we do this is through our partnership with Phoenix Pride, with whom we offer the Pride Athletic Scholarship. This scholarship provides direct financial support to two college-bound LGBTQ+ high school student-athletes each year.
